RATL 3 | Lesson 1 | Practice (Evaluating Rational Expressions)

Evaluating Rational Expressions

  1. Similar to the expressions above, try evaluating each the following rational expressions below for these three values: \(x=2\), \(x=-3\), and \(x=-6\).
  1. \(\dfrac{x^2+5}{x-2}\)
  2. \(\dfrac{x^2+2x}{x+3}\)
  3. \(\dfrac{x^2+3x+5}{x^2+2x-8}\)
  1. Are there any values that don’t “work” for one or more of the expressions? If so, which values and why?

Check solutions here.
