Overview
Learning Intentions (Objectives)
a) Students will be able to correctly identify sets of multiple representations of different situations involving piecewise functions.
b) Students will clearly explain their reasoning and create viable arguments as to why the different representations of a function are matches.
Rationale (Diagnostic Results)
Students have difficulty understanding the meaning of the graph of a function as a set of points and the associated notation; many of them would struggle to answer the question, “If we go up to the curve \(f(x)\) at \(x = a\), what are the coordinates of the point that we get?”
