Find the Greatest Common Divisor (GCD) or the Greatest Common Factor (GCF) of the following sets of numbers.   It is the largest factor or division common to the given numbers.

a) 72 and 48          b) 24 and 16          c) 32, 48 and 92

Think about and list the methods you used to find the GCD of each of the pairs. Strategies may include mental math, factor tree, and factor ladder. What is a common factor?

Common Factors are factors that two or more numbers share.   Although \(2\) is a common factor of \(4\) and \(16\) is it the largest common factor?

The pairs above were solely numerical. Sets of monomials with variables also have GCDs.
