POLQ 2 | Lesson 1 | Practice (Completing the Square) Solutions

Here are the steps in the correct order:

  1. Write the quadratic in standard form.
  2. Divide all terms by \(a\) (the coefficient of \(x\)).
  3. Move the number term (\(c/a\)) to the right side of the equation.
  4. Complete the square on the left side of the equation and balance this by adding the same value to the right side of the equation.

Note: The generic solution is called the quadratic formula and with it you can find all solutions to quadratic equations.
