- If you take 25% off your discounted cost will be 75% of the original or \(\$75 =100•0.75\). If you now increase $75 by 25% or 125% of $75 you will get (1.25)(75) or $93.75. Definitely not the same;
- If you take 50% off an item that costs $100 and then another 50% off of the sales price. You will pay \((100•0.5)(0.5)\) or $25, definitely not free.
