GEOM 1 | Lesson 1 | Practice (Area of Circles) Solution

  1. In each case you can have 9 full circles of radius 2.
  2. The area of the rectangle is \(180\) square feet and the area of the 9 circles is approximately \(113\) square feet.  There are \(67\) square feet not covered by the circles, approximately.
  3. The area of the larger circle is \(9π\) and the area of the smaller circle is \(4π\) .  The area of the ring is the difference between the two or \(5π\).
  4. The length of the arc is:  \(\dfrac{45}{360} \cdot2π(3)\) or \(\dfrac{3π}{4}\).
