FNGR 1 | Lesson 4 | Making Connections (Horizontal Translations)

What do you notice from the previous two graphs?  You may have noticed that the parent function \(y=2^x\) shifted left 4 units from it’s original position.

What do you wonder?  You might be wondering if a translation always occurs when you add a constant value to the \(x\) -value, or input.

Using the table below, as well as  coordinate grid, if you were to translate the parent exponential function right 3 units, what would the graph be, the new table be and the new function?  Desmos would be a good tool to utilize as well.
